A Taste of Italy

Join us for this small group, hands-on Italian inspired workshop using Spring produce where you’ll learn to make an authentic Italian entrée, main and dessert. There will be Italian home-style cooking and baking involved with lots of chatting, laughing, and learning. You will then sample the results of your labour and take home any leftovers for your family to enjoy. All ingredients and recipe sheets supplied.

Keeping Chickens at Home

Chickens are wonderful sustainable pets that eat kitchen scraps, supply you with fresh eggs & fertilise your garden.  Discover how to raise healthy chooks at home. Learn about the benefits of raising chickens, local council requirements, choosing the right breed for your needs, how to house chickens to protect them from predators & what to feed your chickens for optimum output.  You’ll also learn about chook behaviour, general care & maintenance, composting chook manure. $20 pp

The Art of Pasta Making

Join us for this hands-on pasta-making workshop where MCSL Chef, Gerry Barbara, will show you how to hand-make traditional Italian pasta at home. Participants will gather their pasta dough, learn how to stretch the dough, & make different types of pasta incl ravioli, fettucine and potato gnocchi. Participants will sample their pasta with freshly made Napolitano sauce using ingredients from the MCSL gardens. Cost $75pp (incl class, recipes, afternoon tea) (max 8 participants)

Natural Beauty - DIY Skincare

Would you like to learn about DIY skincare and start to make your own natural skincare at home?
In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn how to make your own natural DIY skincare products using ingredients that most people have in their pantry and plants that are growing in their backyards.
Our presenter will cover hair conditioners, face and body scrubs, cleansers, toners and moisturisers and face masks. You’ll learn about the best natural ingredients to use on your skin type.
Save money and avoid using chemicals & preservatives on your skin.
All participants will take home 2 different hand-made beauty products. Cost: $65 pp (Max 15 partiipants)

Preserving for Christmas Gifts

In this hands-on workshop, participants will learn the techniques used to make pickles, chutneys, jams, sauces and the fundamentals of sweet preserving from “setting point” to storage.
Our Chef will focus on preserves and other treats you can give as Christmas gifts or to add to your festive table. You will also learn how important pectin, acidity and temperature is in the process. Covers safe preserving basics & techniques including bottling, sterilizing, and storing products.
You’ll also make two preserves to take home. Suitable for anyone who wants to know how to make delicious home preserves or to make Christmas gifts from the heart.

$100 pp (includes jars, fact sheets, preserving recipes & afternoon tea)
