Introduction to Bee Keeping, $40pp

Beekeeping is a popular hobby & many people have already found out how enjoyable and rewarding it is to keep honeybees. It's also a way of ensuring you have a supply of 100% pure, natural honey sourced from local flowering plants.
Learn the basics of beekeeping including:

*how to obtain bees

*regulations and where to locate them in the garden

*equipment and costs for starting up a beehive

*the basics of colony management 

*protecting your bees from pests and diseases

*what plants attract bees 

*extracting honey

*native bees
*This is an introductory course only so there will be no practical activities with live bees. $40pp
**All participants receive a 300gr jar of honey made at our Centre.

 

Easter around the World, $75pp

Every family has their own unique Easter traditions but around the world, there are many distinct ways to celebrate and savor the Easter holiday – ones that incorporate both local ingredients and unique cultural traditions. The foods vary by country and region and include sweet breads and pastries, meat and egg dishes, and plenty of cakes and cookies.
In this workshop, our Chef will show you how to make traditional Easter dishes from around the world including traditional hot cross buns.  Participants will prepare three delicious Easter dishes to take home. You’ll also sample a number of other Easter dishes with your afternoon tea.  Get creative and learn new cooking skills and cultural traditions! Max 8 ppl

 

A Taste of the Middle East, $75pp  (Booked out)

Join us for this small group, hands-on Middle Eastern inspired workshop using seasonal produce, olive oil and the aromatic herbs, spices, honey and nuts which characterise Middle Eastern food cuisine.  You’ll learn about the main ingredients in Middle Eastern cooking and where to source them.  You’ll then make a Middle Eastern style entrée, main and dessert.

There will be plenty of home-style cooking and baking involved with lots of taste sampling, chatting, laughing, and learning. You will then sample the results of your labour and take home any leftovers for your family to enjoy. All ingredients and recipe sheets supplied. Max 8 ppl

 

Pasta & Gnocchi Making  (Booked out)

Join us for this hands-on pasta-making workshop where MCSL Chef, Gerry Barbara, will show you step-by-step how to hand-make traditional Italian pasta and gnocchi at home. Discover the difference in freshness and texture between shop-bought dried pasta and home-made fresh pasta and gnocchi.

In this workshop, participants:
* will make their own pasta dough and learn how to gather their dough,
* will learn how to stretch the dough and make different shapes including ravioli, fettucine and potato gnocchi

Have fun with other participants learning how to master the technique of pasta-making and then sample the results of your work with freshly made Napolitano sauce.  You'll also take home some of your pasta for your family to enjoy.
Cost $75pp (incl class, recipes, afternoon tea). Maximum 8 participants.

 

 

Guide to Indoor Gardening, $45pp

Learn how to create our own indoor garden. In this workshop, you’ll learn what plants to grow, where to place them. how to care for them and the benefits of having air-purifying plants at home.
You’ll also find out how to propagate plants, how to repot them, and how to prevent pests and diseases.
All participants will pot a plant to take home and will also receive additional cuttings for you to pot at home to get your indoor garden thriving. Cost: $45 pp

 

Grow your own Vegetables at Home, $65pp

Learn to grow your own herbs and vegetables in your backyard growing space using organic principles.  Workshop focuses on soil improving using sustainable resources, how to identify and fix soil types, what to grow and when, crop rotation, companion planting to encouraging good insects and reduce pests & diseases.  This workshop will be a mixture of presentations & practical exercises.  So be ready to get your hands dirty as participants will prepare a garden bed.

Each participant will also take home some seedlings & a container of worms to get started in their own backyards.

 

 

 

Introduction to Soft Cheese Making, $95pp

If you love cheese and want to learn how to make it at home, then come to this course! Learn the basics of home cheese making with MCSL Chef, Gerry Barbara. You’ll learn how to make ricotta, mascarpone, quark, lemon & cream cheese and labneh, and the many uses for leftover whey. Participants will make two soft cheeses to take home and there’ll also be a range of other delicious cheeses to try on the day. Participants will also take home samples of other cheeses made on the day.  Max 8 ppl
